Cosplay, by definition, is a kind of costume play according to the anime, television, manga or game, usually aimed at adults. Basically, cosplay is based on a Japanese cartoon but it’s not like “The Simpsons” or “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Anime usually has story lines that go deeper into the background of the story and characters. It focuses more on emotions and life issues than a usual cartoon does.

Also, the style of anime is more detailed and realistic than a cartoon. A lot of the detail is in the face, specifically the eyes. Most of the emotion is conveyed through the eyes so that is why they appear so big in most animes. In contrast, the mouths are usually a lot smaller on the faces and the hair of the characters is typically in weird colors and styles.

Animes usually have bright popping colors as well, to make them more entertaining, but some have darker and more casual colors that go along with the story better.
There are endless anime cartoon series to watch and it is a good way to pass the time. If you want to try watching an anime then a good one to start off with would be “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” Technically this movie is not an anime because it was not created in Japan, however, the style is similar to that of an anime and would be a good way to see if you would like it. “Death Note,” “Attack on Titan” and “Tokyo Ghoul” are other very good animes.

Manga, on the other hand, is like a comic book, but created in the same style of anime. The drawings also portray the characters with huge eyes, tiny mouths and strange large hair. This art form also shows the characters as having largely exaggerated emotions.
One main difference between manga and comic books, however, is that manga is read backward. While comics are read left to right, manga is read right to left. This makes it a little confusing for first-time manga readers.

Many animes are based on mangas, just as movies can be based on books. “Black Butler,” for instance, was originally a manga until it was turned into an anime. The mangas usually have a longer and deeper plot and the animes can sometimes differ from their mangas, but most of the time the manga and anime stay on track together.

I like how mangas go into the story in more depth, but I also love how animes bring the pictures to life.
Many of the animes already mentioned are also found in manga such as “Fruits Basket” “Death Note,” which is about a boy who finds a book that will kill anybody whose name is written in it; “Ouran High School Host Club,” which is about a girl who gets sucked into a crazy boy club and must pretend to be a boy, and “Attack on Titan,” which is about human-eating giants who threaten society.

Some other very popular manga that may sound familiar are “Dragon Ball,” “Sailor Moon,” “Yu-Gi-Yo,” “Bleach,” “One Piece,” “Full Metal Alchemist,” “Fairy Tail” and “Naruto” All of those have anime versions as well.
I have recently started a manga called “Code Geass,” which is about a boy who receives the gift to control people with his eye, and it is very good so far. If you want to try reading some manga then you can check some out at the library or get apps like MangaMeow, where you can read manga for free.

The first anime came out during World War II as propaganda and slowly evolved to become a very popular pastime in Japan. Manga, on the other hand, is said to date back all the way to the 12th century. This is disputed to some extent because the styles of modern manga and the 12th century scrolls are different, but both are read right to left.

Manga also became more popular during and after World War II. The United States also had some influence on manga because when soldiers were in Japan, they also brought comic books from the U.S. This helped change the manga into becoming more popular and modernized.

Even though anime and manga originate from Japan, you don’t have to worry about not understanding it. There are English versions of each and some animes come with subtitles as well. Many people think that animes are just like ordinary cartoons, but they are not. They actually are a good way to watch and understand a popular pastime for a different foreign culture.

Overall, I love watching anime and reading manga because the style is unique and different, you can really get into the complex story lines, and I like knowing that I am sharing something with a different culture. I love the detail that goes into showing how the characters feel and even though their emotions can be over-exaggerated, that is what makes anime and manga so entertaining.

Many of the stories that anime and manga portray are people trying to work through problems and figure everything out and I really like that about them. While cartoons are usually meaningless stories that go nowhere, animes and manga are stories that actually progress and get really deep. They have a meaning and moral to them and that is what makes them so different than cartoons.

Try reading some manga or watching anime to see if you like it because if you do then you are understanding a different culture a little better, and it is a great way to pass the time. Plus there are endless manga to read and an infinite amount of anime to watch, so you better get started.
